Being a second year student, i hope to share an insight that I have acquired when I was a first year student up until today. I know that everyone is different, however I strongly believe that the tips that I have outlined below, will help you as much as they have worked for me.
Know what PR is and what does it entail.
I wonder if you have noticed that most of the first year undergraduates students find themselves signing up three years studying a course (PR for instance) without having any clue what the subject is all about. Even though you obtain the knowledge from the lectures that you will be attending, the main platform of public relations qualification revolves around the knowledge that prop up practice. You should also interact with people who have acquired their degrees or diplomas in public relations in order for you to get an insight of what the course is all about.
Want that qualification wholeheartedly.

You must be very much motivated in order for you to achieve your goal. Remember, that goal is to get your qualification in your pocket. The nicest thing about having your own qualification is that no one can take it away from you, its yours forever until you take your last breath, therefore you have to work hard for what will endlessly belong to you. I always told myself that I will not choose parties and going to clubs over my academics. It doesn't mean that you have to always study, leisure is also needed in order to maintain fresh mind. My point is that do not forget what your objective is and never ever allow your friends discourage you not to attend your classes.
Thank you Kamogelo for giving us interesting tips, they will help those who want to study Public Relations even those who are already studying
ReplyDeletethe pleasure is all mine. i hope PR students are now aware that education is not received but achieved.
Deletevery well put tips. how can you motivate me to continue with my course if I am experiencing difficulties in the course at hand, how bad is it to change courses if you feel the one you are doing is not as good as you thought it would be. give a valid reason to stick with public relations through out ,until the day I graduate.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bongi for that question, you can talk to your lecturers as soon as possible to discuss your questions and concerns. However, if you feel like PR is not for you, changing the course can also be an option because doing something you are not passionate about, its a waste of time and money.
Deletehard work and dedication....
ReplyDeleteSurely that can be useful to those who want to study Public Relations in future and surely to some of us as PR students we might find these tips interesting...kip up the good work Kamo
ReplyDeletesurely you must have some persistence when studying towards any qualifications, non-the less those are some useful tips that you have mentioned.
ReplyDeleteI like the point of managing time because most of the students struggle in time management
ReplyDeleteI like this , future PRPs should Read your Blog
ReplyDeleteCaptivating piece of writing Kamogelo. However, like Siyabonga stated, persistence and perseverance should be the core business for every endeavour undertaken. Everyone should envision himself as being a success.
ReplyDeleteHello Kay. What do you think of the perception that when studying Public Relations, one must have the guts to address/or speak in front of a large number of people? I am currently doing Grade 9 and I would like to pursue a career in Public Relations and Communication. All the best in your studies
ReplyDeletethank you for your question Oaratwa, we all have the phobia of speaking publicly, however when you are doing something that you have a passion for, that fear will automatically disappear. All the best in your studies.
