How to score yourself a PR qualification.

Being a second year student, i hope to share an insight that I have acquired when I was a first year student up until today. I know that everyone is different, however I strongly believe that the tips that I have outlined below, will help you as much as they have worked for me.

Know what PR is and what does it entail.

I wonder if you have noticed that most of the first year undergraduates students find themselves signing up three years studying a course (PR for instance) without having any  clue what the subject is all about. Even though you obtain the knowledge from the lectures that you will be attending,  the main platform of public relations qualification revolves around the knowledge that prop up practice. You should also interact with people who have acquired their degrees or diplomas in public relations in order for you to get an insight of what the course is all about.

Want that qualification  wholeheartedly.

You must be very much motivated in order for you to achieve your goal. Remember, that goal is to get your qualification in your pocket. The nicest thing about having your own qualification is that no one can take it away from you, its yours forever until you take your last breath, therefore you have to work hard for what will endlessly belong to you. I always told myself that I will not choose parties and going to clubs over my academics. It doesn't mean that you have to always study, leisure is also needed in order to maintain fresh mind. My point is that do not forget what your objective is and never ever allow your friends discourage you not to attend your classes.

Manage your time.

Planning your time can be dull, but yet helpful. When I was doing my first year, i had a timetable of what am I going to do and when. That particular timetable helped to finish my assignments on time and it also helped me to start preparing for my tests before time. See http://goo.gl/8CfKPP for guidelines on how to manage your time effectively.

Consume the news regularly.

You have to familiarize yourself with events that take place in the world.  As a PR student, i watch and read the news regularly because they help me with the news quizzes that we are usually given in tutorial classes as part of our class activities which are going to count on my semester marks. These news also help you to provide examples that you can apply in your tests and assignments. You can also install news24 application in your smart phones because it will be easier for you to read the news on the GO! Use other methods that will work for monitoring the news http://goo.gl/vcgLr0

Interact with your lecturers and tutors.

Always remember that your lecturers are also your mentors and they are there to guide you all the way. When you feel like you are not sure about something concerning the module, feel free to ask questions.  In addition, try by all means to attend most of the tutorials because they are very  important.
